line footer

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that most often occurs in the thin membrane lining of the lungs, chest, and abdomen. Virtually all cases of mesothelioma are linked to exposure to asbestos, a material widely used throughout numerous industries such as construction, automotive, and shipbuilding industries. Exposure happens when asbestos fibers are released into the air and then inhaled by those who come in contact with it.

In the United States, manufacturers, suppliers, sellers, and distributors are legally obligated to provide safe products and to warn those who may come in contact with asbestos through consumer products or while underemployment of the dangers associated with asbestos. When a company fails to notify consumers or employees of these dangers, they are legally liable for injuries caused by asbestos exposure, such as mesothelioma and other asbestos-related illnesses.

Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, failed to disclose serious side effects of Risperdal while marketing the drug for off-label uses in children. It is alleged that Risperdal was marketed before FDA approval for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and autism. When used by young boys, this drug has caused the development of male breasts – a condition called gynecomastia.

Claims have been filed against Johnson & Johnson on behalf of clients who have gynecomastia, which may have resulted in surgery to remove the breast tissue and psychological trauma.

Lipitor is commonly prescribed to lower cholesterol levels. Many studies have linked Lipitor to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes in its users, even without preexisting conditions. In 2012, the FDA required Pfizer, the drug’s manufacturer, to update Lipitor’s label to include information regarding the increased risk of developing diabetes while using the medication. A number of individuals who have used Lipitor have since been diagnosed with diabetes, and are currently filing Lipitor lawsuits.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Low testosterone is a condition related to hypogonadism, a condition associated with genetic disorders or procedures such as chemotherapy. In these cases, testosterone replacement therapy is administered. Most often seen as a gel, patch, or injection, these treatments have been linked to an increased risk of blood clotting, heart attacks, congestive heart failure, stroke, mini-stroke, or in some cases death. In January 2014, the FDA required all testosterone replacement therapy manufacturers to update the labels on their products to reflect these risks. Men who have used these treatments may be entitled to compensation if they have been diagnosed with heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, blood clots, congestive heart failure, or have experienced death.
